Liriope is a very hardy ground cover that grows in clumps rather than spreading. It is noted that you can rip a clump out and push it back in and the plant will be unphased. They can handle the hot months and over-watering as well. Liriope is a great way to fill in empty areas around taller shrubs. The birds love the berries too.
